What is Airbrush Sunless Tanning?

Airbrush tanning gives you the perfect tan every time, and takes less time than you would spend getting a pedicure. Because no two people are alike, your tan is custom made. The formula is adjusted to your skin type, ensuring the perfect tan. Unlike using sunless tanning creams and spray tanning booths, airbrush tanning involves no mess or streaky problems. The tanning solution is airbrushed onto your skin by a skilled specialist, providing a smooth, even application. When the amino acids in your skin respond naturally to the DHA and other complementary ingredients in the tanning formula, it produces an even, natural looking, golden tan. The application is safe, fast, easy and effective. The tan lasts for 7 to 10 days, and we recommend using tan extenders to help you keep your tan longer.

Pre-Tan Preparation
Make the process of getting your golden tan easier and more successful.

  • •    Shower and exfoliate your entire body before the tanning session. Removing dead skin cells will make your tan last longer and will ensure that the coverage is even.
  • •    Wax a minimum of 24 hours before tanning, or shave 8 hours before or 8 hours after.
  • •    Do not use moisturizer until after the post-tanning shower. Moisturizers can act as barriers, which prevent the solution from contacting the skin. Also, avoid wearing make up.
  • •    Wear loose, dark colored clothing and undergarments. You might even consider wearing a dark colored bathing suit. The solution might rub off on clothing, and while it washes out of most clothing easily, it does tend to stain wool, silk and light nylon materials.
  • •    Do not shower for 6 hours after your tanning session. You should allow time for the reaction to take place.
  • •    Apply moisturizer in the morning and evening after the tan has set. Keeping your skin hydrated will lengthen the life of your tan.

Maintaining your Tan
To keep your healthy golden tan longer, practice a healthy skin routine.

  • •    Wait at least 6 hours before showering after your tanning session. The more time, the better.
  • •    Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize. Dryer skin exfoliates faster, so hydrating with lotion between sessions is essential to keep your tan alive.
  • •    Avoid taking long baths or soaking in a swimming pool.
  • •    Do not scrub your skin or exfoliate; use a soft wash cloth when bathing.
  • •    Wait a day or two before exercising, as excessive perspiration can affect the tanning process.

FAQ

Why get an airbrush tan?
Airbrush tanning delivers a believable, natural-looking tan without harmful rays of the sun. The highly effective formula is customized to your skin tone and is fast-acting, and long lasting.

How long does an airbrush tan last?
The tan will last approximately 7 to 10 days, and using tan extender lotions will help maintain it for longer. Factors such as your activity level, skin condition, and moisturizing applications will affect the duration of your tan.

What is the difference between Airbrush tanning and sunless tanning with lotions at home?
With airbrush tanning, you are getting a trained specialist to apply the formula, ensuring that you won’t have any streaks, dark spots, or mess. You cannot duplicate the consistency and natural look of an airbrushed tan.

How long does a tanning session take?
A full session can take 10 to 20 minutes, so you should plan 30 minutes for time spent before and after.

Is airbrush tanning safe? What about if you are pregnant?
Yes! The most effective products available are sunless or self-tanning products that contain
dihydroxyacetone (DHA) as the active ingredient, according to American Academy of Dermatology. DHA is a simple, non-toxic sugar that is commonly used in cosmetic and food ingredients. It is not absorbed into the body and poses no possibility of toxicity. As a precaution, though, if you are pregnant you should always consult with you physician before receiving a spray tan or any skin care application.

What if a person can’t normally get very tan?
Even if you cannot get a real tan, you can get a sunless tan. DHA, the active ingredient in spray tan, works by saturating the skin cells in the outermost layer of skin. It turns the protein in the skin cells into a golden tan. Your tan level can be adjusted from lighter to darker, depending on your skin tone, so you will always have a natural looking tan.
